On January 27, MBI hosted its first blood drive of 2020 after encouraging employees to consider regular blood donations as a New Year's resolution--'to be a part of something bigger than yourself.' Last year, MBI committed to hosting onsite Blood Drives each quarter with the help of Vitalant—one of the nation’s largest nonprofit community blood service providers—to provide an easily accessible way for our team to give blood and make a difference for so many. According to Vitalant, each year, nearly 5 million Americans need blood transfusions and donor blood helps trauma and burn patients, premature infants, heart surgery patients, organ transplant recipients and those fighting cancer, among others. In 2019, staff from Vitalant spent approximately 12 hours at MBI collecting donations. In that time, they were able to secure enough blood to help 168 patients! MBI is incredibly proud the of the generosity and strength of MBI donors and look forward to providing regular blood drive access again this year. Vitalant Donor Recruitment Representative, Camille Jones, was pleased to share the results from the recent drive and said, “I was so excited to see the MBI drive do so well. Please tell everyone fantastic job and that their blood will save the lives of many! I was told yesterday that things are starting to turn around and move in the right direction thanks to all of our partners like MBI and the gracious donors who made your drive a success.”
Following are the results of our recent drive:
12 Blood Donors
13 Life-saving Units of Red Blood Cells
39 Opportunities to Save a Life
1 First Time Donor
Thank you to each of our donors. Our next drive is tentatively scheduled for April 14th in Belfield.
