First Annual Oilfield Helping Hands Fishing Tournament a Success
This year marked the first annual Oilfield Helping Hands (OHH) Rockies Fishing Tournament at Tobacco Gardens Resort & Marina in Watford City, ND. OHH is a nonprofit charitable organization that was established in Houston, TX in 2003 to help oilfield families with financial assistance in times of crisis. Since 2003, OHH has distributed more than $4.8 million in assistance to oilfield families. In 2014, the Rocky Mountain Chapter formed in Denver, CO to provide support for families in Colorado, North Dakota, Utah and Wyoming.
When the team at MBI Energy Services learned about OHH and their upcoming tournament, it was an easy decision to get involved. As a tournament and team sponsor, MBI was well-represented with four teams proudly taking to the water for some friendly competition for a good cause. With the help of 161 anglers, the tournament brought in 747.48 pounds of fish and, more importantly, $30,719.00 was raised for the OHH Rockies Chapter. MBI VP of Operations, Cory Ghering, and Watford City Operations Manager, Chris Olheiser, finished the tournament in 3rd place with only 1.4 pounds separating them from the 1st place team.
Next year’s tournament will be held on May 30, 2020. For more information about OHH or to refer a family in need, visit www.OilfieldHelpingHands.org.
