On June 15, MBI took part in a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Born Learning Trail, a project developed by the United Way of Dickinson in conjunction with Dickinson Parks & Recreation. Born Learning is a national public engagement campaign helping parents, caregivers and communities to create early learning opportunities for young children. The local trail includes a series of interactive learning signs and activities along a mile stretch in Rocky Butte Park designed to assist parents and child care providers with creative ideas for communicating and interacting with their children.
MBI is one of a number of local sponsors of the project, including Marathon Oil and our friends from the Dickinson Chapter of API. The project took about six months to complete and Nichole De Leon, Executive Director for United Way of Dickinson, couldn’t be happier with the result and what this means for young children and families in the area, "we want to get kids off of their electronics; and give families and caretakers a reason to come outside and spend time together and enjoy learning.”
The Dickinson trail is currently the only Born Learning Trail in North Dakota. The United Way of Dickinson Board of Directors hopes to install a Spanish version of the trail during the summer 2019.
