Rig 6 Earns Safety Recognition

MBI Rig 6 recognized at Marathon's Monthly Safety Meeting

At Marathon’s February Safety Meeting, MBI’s Rig 6 was recognized for achieving 1-Year Recordable Incident-free.  Operating a 24-hour rig with multiple crews makes this accomplishment especially impressive, earning everyone on Rig 6 a well-deserved congratulatory hat commemorating their record.

In addition, Rig 6 Night Shift Operator, Oney Arellano, earned Marathon’s Safety Catch of the Month Award. On January 16, Oney used Stop Work Authority when he noticed a defect in the tubing collar on the joint of pipe they were about to run downhole.  After inspection of the tubing collar, it was removed from the tubing and a new collar was installed.   Upon further review by Marathon, the defect in the collar rendering it unsafe was confirmed.  Oney was presented with a hard hat for his great catch and recognized for his exceptional hazard identification.
