Last spring, MBI recognized the first-ever recipient of The Chairman’s Award. The award was developed to recognize exemplary performance by individuals identified by their supervisors or the Executive Team as having consistently excelled in their positions; and have made a significant contribution to the financial success of the company through innovation or exceptional effort that goes above and beyond normal job requirements and expectations. We are pleased to announce that this winter, the exceptional effort of a member of the Business Development team earned the second Chairman’s Award at MBI. While exceptional effort isn’t always easy to quantify; it is always easy to recognize as it manifests in dedication to daily excellence that helps MBI to exceed customer expectations and motivates others to put their best effort forward each day.
Ryan Goguen began working with MBI as Driver in 2012, the moved into the Field Operations Manager position before becoming a member of the Business
Development Team. However, it is clear that Ryan sees himself as a member of the MBI Team—not just the BD Team. Ryan is known for putting in 16 hour days and regularly steps up to see that we succeed. He has performed multiple roles ‘unofficially’ in addition to his sales duties, including interim operations manager, driver manager, QC and is an integral part of planning and executing cookouts for company and community events—all without being asked, but just “because someone needs to do it.”
His commitment to our success shows in his commitment to our customers as well. In one instance, Ryan’s strongest customer had just been turned down for the third time in a week. Rather than going back to his customer to report that we couldn’t accept the work, he hopped in a truck and went to work. He spent his entire day running loads of water to make sure his customer was taken care of. This is not the first time that he has gone above and beyond to help a customer. Ryan received a call from MBI operations late on a Friday night and was told they were supposed to setup a filter trailer for a customer the next day (Saturday) and they didn’t have anyone to do it. They asked if Ryan would do it. Needless to say, he gave up his day-off and instead spent the day helping MBI by setting up a filter trailer.
Ryan approaches each day as an opportunity to do great things. He takes ownership of his role in seeing that MBI is a success, as is demonstrated in his deep sense of responsibility to our customers and to each one of us. According to Business Development Director, Brandon Halsey, “it is difficult to summarize Ryan Goguen’s achievements and merit to earn this award. Every day he does something that qualifies him for this honor. In my opinion, no one company-wide is more deserving than Ryan Goguen to receive this award.”
Ryan was presented with The Chairman’s Award at the Safety Summit in Watford City on January 18.
